The securing plate prevents the front sprocket nut from loosening during operation. It is installed together with the front sprocket. After the sprocket nut has been tightened, the plate is folded up and placed against the side of the nut, positively locking the nut against turning.
The securing plate is a single-use part and must be replaced every time the sprocket nut is loosened, e.g. with every sprocket change.
