Additional weight kit

The alpha Racing additional weight kit reliably brings race bikes up to the required minimum weight. An base plate and five solid stainless steel weight plates allow ballast from 1,59 kg to 4,13 kg in six stages. The set replaces the previous additional weight box.

When is ballast required?
Many racing series specify a minimum weight for the motorcycle, or for motorcycle and rider combined. Light riders or consistently weight-reduced builds quickly fall below this value. The missing difference must then be added as ballast, firmly mounted to the motorcycle. Some series additionally link ballast to rider weight.

Mounting position and attachment
The set mounts to the lower end of the main frame, centrally towards the rear wheel. This places the ballast low and central in the motorcycle, in line with common racing practice of positioning additional weight as low and as close to the centre of the bike as possible. The base plate is attached to the frame via vibration-damping mounts.

Securing the ballast
The weight plates feature holes for safety wiring. Locking plates are included, safety wire is available separately as an accessory in our shop.

Modular design
The base plate stays permanently mounted to the frame. Depending on the required ballast, up to five weight plates of 500 g each are added. This allows the payload to be adapted to rider, racing series and regulations without changing the system.

From the first weight plate onwards, additional mounting material is used, so the first stage is slightly larger than the following ones.

Frequently asked questions
Which motorcycles does the set fit?
BMW S 1000 RR from model year 2019 (K67) and BMW M 1000 RR from model year 2021 (K66), including 2025+ models.
Which exhaust system is required?
The kit can only be used in combination with Akrapovič full systems of the Racing Line and Evolution Line. Other full systems have not been tested, so compatibility cannot be confirmed.
How much ballast is possible?
Minimum 1,590 g (base plate only), maximum 4,135 g (all five plates).
Are individual weight plates available?
No, the plates are only available as part of the set.
Is safety wire included?
No, safety wire is available separately as an accessory in our shop. Locking plates are included.
Does the set replace the additional weight box?
Yes, the additional weight set is the successor to the previous additional weight box.
