Two wins at the North West 200
Storm Stacey and GRYD MLav Racing ↗, in partnership with alpha Racing, make history at the North West 200The team arrived at the North West 200 determined to make an impression, but few could have predicted the scale of success achieved across the week. Winning the Superstock race and the second Superbike race exceeded all expectations and firmly established our team amongst the standout performers of the event.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to alpha Racing for their trust, support and belief in this project from the moment it was first proposed. Their commitment and collaboration played a huge role in what became an unforgettable week at the 2026 North West 200.
Storm Stacey
Mega pleased with the outcome obviously, the alpha Racing BMW just suited going round the North West so good. It didn’t take me long to pick it up and continue to learn around the top boys. Big thanks to GRYD MLav Racing as well, as the bike was faultless and spotless all week. I’d happily ride their bike again, maybe we will at some point. Big thanks to Bathams and AJN Steelstock for allowing me to ride for MLav also.
Sebastian Hofmann (CEO alpha Racing)
We are absolutely delighted to witness and support the outstanding performance of Storm and the whole alpha Racing by GRYD Team at the recent North West 200. Winning both the Superstock race and the second Superbike race, as a Rookie, is a remarkable accomplishment and clearly demonstrates the potential of rider, team and bike at the highest level.
The North West 200 itself is already a truly world-class motorsport event, a real highlight in Northern Ireland. With its unique atmosphere, passionate and knowledgeable fans, and, this year, fantastic weather conditions, it once again proved why it is such a special race on the international calendar. To see Storm deliver these breakthrough victories in such an environment makes it even more meaningful. Achieving this level of success at such an iconic and demanding event is exceptional, and we are sincerely grateful to be part of it.
These results are a testament to Storm Stacey’s incredible talent, the professionalism of the whole MLav Racing team, and the strength of our collaboration. We highly appreciate the trust placed in us and look forward to continuing this successful partnership in the future.
At the same time, this year’s event also reminds us of the risks that are part of road racing. We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Kamil Holan, a BMW rider who lost his life following an accident during the event. We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and team. Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this incredibly difficult time.
Nathan Smith (Team Manager)
It’s an unbelievable achievement coming home from the North West 200 with the title and two race victories. Making history with Storm and alpha Racing was always the plan when heading to the event, but for it to become reality is certainly a dream come true.
The alpha Racing BMW M 1000 RR Superstock machine was faultless throughout and looked at home competing against other fully-fledged Superbikes. This is a testament to Sebastian and his team at alpha Racing, and further cements our partnership as we also strive to regain the British Superstock title again this year.
As I mentioned previously, Storm is an exceptional talent, and he was brilliant on and off the bike all week. Super easy to work with and he has an eye for detail. He should be proud of what he has achieved this week. I would also like to personally thank Michael Rutter for allowing Storm to ride our bike and putting his own team aside to allow Storm to ride the alpha BMW in the feature race. Michael’s experience was of great help throughout the week.
And last but certainly not least, my team. They were outstanding throughout the event and put a bike underneath Storm that was capable of winning. As we know, road racing puts extra stress on everyone and everything involved. Calm under pressure and meticulous in their work, Kevin, Matt, Jake and Paddy deserve a huge pat on the back – they did a great job.
All our thoughts from GRYD MLav Racing are with the family and friends of the rider who lost his life whilst competing. The sport we all love can also be so cruel at times.
