FIM Superstock 1000 Cup
Since 2005 the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup is announced by the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM). Before it was the former European Championship of the Superstock-1000-class. In 2012 there will be 10 races, taking place within the European World Superbike events. This international championship is established especially for young talented riders in order to prepare them for either Supersport or Superbike World Championship. There are even a couple World Superbike-Teams running their own Junior Team in the Cup.
The FIM Superstock 1000 Cup comprises Superbikes in the 1.000 cc-category. Technical regulations are based upon close serial technics; the rules are intended to permit limited changes to the homologated motorcycles in the interests of safety and improved competition between various motorcycle concepts. It’s obliged to use profiled standard tires from Pirelli. There’s an age limit of 24 years for the participating riders.
Only one year after the race entry of the BMW S 1000 RR the Italian rider Ayrton Badovini won the championship title for BMW in 2010. In 2012 there will participate besides BMW also Aprilia, Ducati, Honda and Kawasaki.
