Perfect teamwork saves Reiti important points
Markus Reiterberger of Team alpha Racing adapted quick to the Italian track having done a test session already the weekend before. So his BMW S 1000 RR was well set up und he clinched a 5th place in the timed session.
From row 2 Reiti came firing out of the blocks in his typical manner but bad luck struck when he tangled with one of his competitiors on the 3rd lap and went done hard. Due to a broken engine cover there was quite some oil on the track and when more riders slid out the race control had no other option than to red-flag the race. The team analyzed the situation very quick and when the bike was brought back to the pits they had the spares ready and got Reiti back on the grid for the re-start. The now 4th row starting position and the reduced race distance of only 6 laps made it difficult but the young Bavarian gave it his all and he clinched important points with a 10th place finish. This performance of rider and team allowed Markus to stay in 4th in the overall standings.
After clinching the R6 Cup in 2010 the upcoming weekend will mark Reiti’s return to the German scene when he will do a guest appearance in the International German road racing championship IDM. This race will be a perfect preparation fort he Superstock event to be held at the Nürburgring in September.
Then it’s time for the trip to hopefully sunny Aragon in Spain for round 5 of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup on the first weekend of July.
Reiti: „Unfortunately this race didn’t go as planned. The crash was a pity but the team did a heck of a job to give me a perfect bike for the re-start.“
Mr. Hofmann: „This weekend took an unfortunate turn. The crash and the following 10th place finish do not reflect Markus’ potential but so be it. We hope he will continue his positive development and look forward to the next rounds. This coming weekend we will return to the IDM and we can’t wait to see some familiar faces.“
