FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, 8. Race at Nürburgring
This past weekend Team alpha Racing went to the legendary Nürburgring for round 8 of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup and it was homesoil where young prospect Markus Reiterberger scored his first podium with a 3rd place finish.
The first one is in the books! Team alpha Racing and its boss Josef Hofmann enjoyed a perfect weekend in the Eifel. Right from the first go Reiti felt very good and full of confidence. After finishing the first qualifying session in 9th place and the team kept a cool head and made some adjustments to the suspension and the electronics. Those were key for improving his lap times by more than a second and moving up to the second row in 6th place.
The team’s hard work when preparing for this home race should pay off in Sunday’s 11-lap main event. The young rider from Obing (Bavaria) got a good start as usual and kept it cool for the first few laps when most of his competitors tend to go a bit crazy. Then he started to pick up riders one by one and when the chequered flag fell he had moved up to a brilliant 3rd place earning his and the teams first podium finish in this competitive championship. All this very much to the liking of his bosses Josef Hofmann and Josef Meier, finally getting the reward for their commitment and vision.
With this great result in the back the team will be on its way to Portugal in two weeks time. Portimao will be the venue for the penultimate round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. And with only 8 points to residue it’s even possible to finish off the season in the top 3.
Reiti: „I’m super pumped! Finally everything worked out and I could earn my first podium finish. The race was perfect, as was the weather and I have to thank the whole team for their efforts. I could not have done that without them!“
Mr. Hofmann: „This legendary circuit brought us the long awaited podium finish. We are very proud and happy that the team’s hard work finally paid off. Now we have to take this momentum to the next round in Portimao.“
